Like a moth to a flame, she was drawn once again to Los Angeles. BBC Radio One’s Mary Anne Hobbs made the trip to one of her favorite cities on the planet to feed the Coachella multitudes with a DJ set of her usual challenging and inventive selections, only to be grounded by that pesky Icelandic volcano from a few weeks back. This extended stop-over resulted in some back-flip booking and a little bit of hustle that found her picking up a few extra gigs on top of everybody’s favorite music festival, namely a one night stop in Montreal this Saturday May 8th at The Blue Dog.

Flying Lotus in Montreal July 11th with My Man Henri…

16806144As usual, the run up to the next Red Bull Music Academy (London 2010!) isn’t complete without a few special events to show the calibre of this annual international event. Coming up on July 11th at Club Lambi, Montreal welcomes Los Angeles’ premier experimental beat-head Flying Lotus to town, where he’ll most certainly blow some wigs, just like the first time he came. He’ll be joined by the always crisp and clean Henri Brisard aka My Man Henri, who has a penchant for filthy, 92bpm beats with a limp. Please do not make the mistake of sleeping through this one.

I was there, and now you can be too. Flylo was supposed to play outdoors at Piknic Electronik as part of MUTEK back on May 31st, but it got rained out and we were treated to an indoor show in the middle of the afternoon at SAT.
